Mossy Frames

A small photo journal of mosses, lichens and quiet green corners

Why the north side is not always greener

October 2026

The old saying is only half true. Moss follows moisture and shade, not the compass. In a dense forest the south side of a trunk can be just as green, and on a rock near water every side is covered.

Photographing in light rain

September 2026

A light drizzle is the best friend of a moss photographer. The leaves open up, the colour gets richer and the tiny droplets catch the light. A cheap macro lens and a plastic bag over the camera are enough.

Sphagnum in the bog

August 2026

Walked the boardwalk through the bog on a hot day. Sphagnum comes in surprising colours: pale green, rusty orange and almost wine red at the edges of the pools.

Spring 2024

I kept taking pictures of the same small green things on every walk, so it seemed reasonable to put them somewhere. No schedule, no plans, just frames.
